Do you like to steal things? Do you like to steal things with other people? Perhaps in an overhead, retro style? Oh my goodness then do I have the GAME FOR YOU. It's Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine from Pocketwatch Games. This game has taken a CRAZY amount of time to come out, but it's finally here to lighten your gluttonous wallets.
The game is a 2D, overhead stealth game where you and up to three other fellow felons perform outrageously illegal stunts for reasons that you'll discover as you uncover the story. Detection in Monaco is a bit nicer than other games, where getting caught is not the end, but generally a wild chase until you either die, get the hell out, or just find some kind of hiding place. Oh, or shoot the guy. There are guns. Also, despite being overhead, the game has a fog of war feature that forces you to carefully poke around each corner and look for subtle things like the footsteps of guards.
While you can just blitz through all of the missions, there is score attacking and COLLECTIBLES. Find all of the coins on each stage to "Clean Out" that particular level and unlock goodies like, uh...more levels. You like more levels, don't you?
The game doesn't just feature online multiplayer, but fully-fledged local co-op as well. Yes, even PC gets four-player local co-op. Finally, an excuse to break out that USB hub you got from Newegg.
Monaco has eight playable classes that are unlocked as time goes on. Each have their own strengths that may appeal to your playstyle. This listing is not intended to be comprehensive in every minute detail of the characters.
The Locksmith: As good as any key. The locksmith's agile fingers can crack locks in half the time. Can also crack safes and ATMs faster.
The Pickpocket: An impoverished thief. Has a pet monkey that can grab coins from those hard-to-reach places. Gets into bushes quicker.
The Cleaner: Violent sociopath. Can put enemies to sleep by sneaking up from behind. Uses medkits faster.
The Lookout: The vigilant one. Boasts a superior field of vision. Climbs up ladders more quickly.
The Hacker: Technical guru. Deals with security devices much faster. Can upload viruses into special outlets.
The Mole: An escape artist. Can tunnel through walls. Cracks chests and moves through secret passages faster.
The Gentleman: A deceptive rogue. Briefly disguises as guards. Gets into vehicles with greater speed.
The Redhead: Redirects focus. Charms and distracts guards. Good at reviving fallen partners (multiplayer only).
The game is $14.99 on Steam (PC Only) and is out on XBLA as well. There is controller support for Steam.
